Scamming Through Online Business Opportunities

Online Business Opportunities

Online business opportunities are considered to be one of the biggest forms of scamming that goes on at a worldwide level. Scamming in the form of online business opportunities has been responsible for coaxing millions of dollars out of unsuspecting people. While the people are becoming aware of these malicious online business opportunities, it is necessary that list be presented to them not in the Internet jargon but in the simple language that they can understand and ensure their safety.

First of all the online business opportunities, which do not provide a real person who can be contacted using the given number, or a proper address (not the post box number) are scams. Run away from these online business opportunities as fast as you can. Not only is there a risk of your money going down the drain, but you might also be a victim of identity theft.

Secondly, those online business opportunities, which ask for any initial investment to be made by you are fake in 99% cases. Stay away from them. In 50% cases where zero investment is needed, the online business opportunities are again malicious.

Thirdly, you have the chain letter based online business opportunities. You are expected to send some money using any online funds transfer system to everyone in the email, and then add yourself to list and send it to more people. This is a great scam where you are not only risking your money, but entire bank account and of course credibility.

Another type of scamming through online business opportunities is sending emails to a number of people. This is spamming since you are sending unsolicited email to a number of people. If someone is able to trace you, he can even take you to the court of law.

The most popular form of scamming in the form of online business opportunities however is the 419 scam. The scam is so called because mostly the source of this scam is Nigeria where this act is a crime under the Section 419 of the penal code of Nigeria. Generally, if you are the victim of such fraudulent online business opportunities, you will receive an email, which will tell you about a person who has a lot of money in some remote area in Africa and in some cases in eastern Europe. You will be asked for help by providing your contact details, account number and routing number and some money, so that the money can be forwarded to your country or somewhere else in the European Union or North America. These fake online business opportunities claim to provide a percentage in return, but its only once the money is gone, that you realize that you were cheated.

The best way is to simply delete any such unsolicited online business opportunities or check anti-scamming sites before you try them.
